ST. CLAIR DVD multi-packs are reasonably priced, and offer fine quality video/audio transfers of unrestored public domain material. Discs are single-side recorded, plastic storage cases fairly sturdy, liner notes appear on box's back cover. "Highlights" on the CLASSIC MONSTER FLICKS collection include Roger Corman's "Creature From the Haunted Sea." This was an early attempt at combining the fright and comedy genres. For a slapdash film "Creature" holds up well-- it contains some funny dialogue and has a most unique twist-ending. Corman's "The Wasp Woman" however is quite the buzzing bore. "The Killer Shrews" are thinly disguised canines-- this one's laughably bad in places. "White Zombie," made in 1932, stars Bela Lugosi in one of his better post-Dracula efforts. "The Monster Walks," from the same year, has that early-30's atmosphere, but little else to recommend it. For fans of Japanese creature films, GIANT MONSTERS 9 Movie Pack, also from St. Clair, is frightfully good! . Parenthetical numbers preceding titles are 1 to 10 viewer poll ratings found at a film resource website.
