As a loyal Midler fan I rented this disapointment of a film. It does not serve as a bioflick or a comedy. I am amazed at the graciousness of the reviews here. Simply put this film is an embarrassment to all involved. There is a terrific cast and an able writer but it all comes to nothing. Bette doesn't seem to know if she's in Big Business or For The Boys! I love Bette but she overacts and it is hard to watch. Every joke falls flat and it's pathetic attempt at sentiment rings false and forced. What were they thinking when they made this film? The critics were right this time around. This deserved to be a bomb in the theaters and yes, in your home.
